Maybe Eminem is taking the name of his new single, "Berzerk," a little too literally.
The rapper’s gave a bizarre, head-scratching interview during half-time of ESPN’s telecast of the Michigan-Notre Dame football game Saturday night.
Introduced in the booth as Marshall Mathers, he opened the awkward three minute, 44-second interview without making eye-contact with broadcasters Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit.
“Sorry, live TV freaks me out a bit,” said Mathers, swiveling his head slowly and not blinking.
It was an awkward start to Eminem’s “Saturday Night Football” career as the rapper will be part of the introduction to the ESPN broadcast starting Sept. 14.
When asked by Musburger what excited him most about his upcoming album, "Marshall Mathers LP 2." the 40-year-old 13-time Grammy winner responded, “Nothing.”
Eminem, though, seemed to hit his stride when the conversation turned to the fortunes of his favorite pro football team, The Detroit Lions.
“Just like they have fantasy football, I’ve got you on my fantasy announcer team,” Eminem told Musburger.
“You being a legend if you got with Al Michaels and John Madden and just called one Lions game ... man that would be a dream come true for me.”
Herbstreit apparently didn’t make the cut.
But when Musburger tried to return the compliment, calling his visitor a “legend,” the wordsmith was at a loss for what to say.
“I’m really uncomfortable right now,” Eminem answered.
He's just a method actor OK!
I've seen soooooo many idiots today talking about how "high" Eminem was last night.... and then I'm wondering if they watched the same thing as me, clearly not. He was obviously joking around and you'd have to be the biggest fu*king retard in the world to believe otherwise. Yes, he was baked out of his mind and then magically **SNAPPED** back to normal when they asked him questions and said, "sorry, live TV makes me nervous......
