Eminem Credits Jim Carrey For His Iconic Album 'The Eminem Show'

Is Jim Carrey the real Slim Shady?

Eminem credited the actor as the inspiration behind his album "The Eminem Show" on the 15th anniversary of its debut this week.

"The concept 4 the Eminem show was inspired by The Truman Show because my life felt like it was becoming a circus around that time and I felt like I was always being watched," Eminem wrote in a handwritten note on Instagram Wednesday.

"Basically, Jim Carrey wrote my album," the 44-year-old continued.

"The Truman Show" was a 1998 film that centered on the life of character Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) whose day-to-day actions are the center of a TV show — and he is unaware that his whole existence is part of an act.

In 2002, Eminem had just won two Grammys for Best Rap Album for The Slim Shady LP in 2000 and The Marshall Mathers LP in 2001. He also just came off the success of the film "8 Mile," so he was greatly the center of attention.

The Detroit rapper's new tidbit of information came as he introduced an Anniversary Collection for the album, which included a cassette reissue of the album, shirts and autographed posters.

"The Eminem Show" features the MC's hits, "Cleanin' Out My Closet," "Sing for the Moment" and "Hailie's Song."
