Eminem Apologizes To His Mom In Music Video 'Headlights'

Eminem took the opportunity to apologize to his mom on Mother's Day.
The Detroit rapper released the Spike Lee-directed music video "Headlights" featuring fun. frontman Nate Ruess.
The emotional tribute scans over Eminem's troubled childhood being raised by a single mother who struggled with alcohol addiction. Despite her hangups, the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, apologized for feeding into their estranged relationship by speaking ill of her earlier in his music career.

The lyrics to the new song include: "I went in headfirst / Never thinking about who what I said hurt, in what verse / My mom probably got it the worst."
The 41-year-old lyricist detailed growing up in poverty and when his mother lost custody of his 8-year-old brother, Nathan, due to her substance abuse.

"Mom, I know I let you down / And though you say the days are happy / Why is the power off, and I'm f-ked up? / And, Mom, I know he's not around / But don't place the blame on me / As you pour yourself another drink," Ruess sings.
The music video paints a picture of Eminem's past and brings it to present day when he meets with his mother face-to-face again. Without words they simply hug tightly before continuing on their separate ways.

"Regardless I don't hate you 'cause, Ma / You're still beautiful to me, 'cause you're my mom," Eminem raps.
