Eddie Murphy’s Plan To Return To Stand-Up Was Ruined By COVID

Eddie Murphy revealed he’s set to return to doing stand-up comedy when life goes back to normal.

“My plan was to do [his 2019 movie ‘Dolemite Is My Name’], ‘Saturday Night Live,’ [upcoming flick] “Coming 2 America” and then do stand-up. And then the pandemic hit, and it shut the whole s–t down,” he said on Kevin Hart’s SiriusXM’s podcast “Comedy Gold Minds.”

Murphy hosted “SNL” in December of last year.

He added, “When the pandemic is over and it’s safe for everybody to go out and do it, then the plan is to do it.”

Murphy transformed stand-up comedy in the 1980s with his legendary specials “Delirious” and “Raw,” but quit in 1987 when his Hollywood career took off.
