Drake University Sorority Sleeps Through Drake Visit

A Drake University sorority that begged for a visit from their school's namesake rapper by starting the hashtag #BringDraketoDrake slept through his surprise 2 a.m. visit.


The "Hotline Bling" singer posted a video to his Instagram story early Wednesday morning showing members of his team ringing the doorbell of the Kappa Kappa Gamma house at least 10 times.



"Look Kappa Kappa Gamma I'm outside your sorority house right now and you're all asleep," he says in the clip. "AND YOU'RE ALL ASLEEP."




The hit artist then moves along and stops outside some other houses, but doesn't end up encountering any students.

The ladies at KKG were stunned and saddened when they learned they had missed the rapper.

They even made a video for Drake showing him what he missed with a look inside their giant pad. It's not likely the "Started from the Bottom" performer would be back for breakfast as Tuesday night was his only scheduled appearance in Iowa.


The Kappa Academics Twitter account also responded to Drake upon learning what they missed.

"Sorry @Drake , the ladies of KKG were fast asleep in preparation for midterms! Come back next time, we can study!" the tweet reads.

The Gamma Theta chapter also took to Instagram to address Drake's highly anticipated visit.


"@champagnepapi sorry we missed you last night!!! We have breakfast if you want to come on back ?? #drakecametodrake #butwewereasleep," the organization wrote.

The Canada-born hip hop artist also posed on the campus' Drake University signage, which prompted the school to put down footprints on the spot where he stood in order for students to create an "Instagram quality photo."

Following a doctor’s recommendation the award-winning rapper has opted to postpone a few of the shows remaining in his “Summer Sixteen” tour.

“We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,” he wrote in a blog post to fans. “I hate to be told I can’t do something, but [I’m] under doctor’s orders to allow me time to recuperate it.”

Scheduled performances in Philadelphia, Newark and Drake’s hometown Toronto will be affected. He noted only one of his scheduled Newark shows will be delayed — because he has yet to perform there — though how his performances in the remaining to cities will be adjusted remains unclear.

The “Hotline Bling” rapper has been touring for the last three months, perfoming on an almost-nightly basis

“I am crushed to be typing this announcement because I feel like I am letting my fans in these cities down,” he continued. “I only want to give you the best show ... I promise I will make it up to you.”
