Rapper Drake says he can't wait to get back into acting — even though his first gig ended prematurely.
The "Started From the Bottom" spitter revealed he was "kicked off" long-running Canadian teen soap opera "Degrassi: The Next Generation," largely because his budding rapping career was getting in the way.
The rapper spent his days on set and his nights recording music, sometimes until 5 a.m.
"I'd sleep in my dressing room and then be in front of the cameras again by 9 a.m.," he told W magazine for its upcoming art issue.
"Eventually, they realized I was juggling two professions and told me I had to choose," he continued. "I chose this life."
That choice has worked out pretty well, considering the rapper has sold more than 10 million albums in his career and has a net worth of $75 million, according to the Celebrity Net Worth website.
But that doesn't mean he isn't eager to land his first major acting gig since starring on "Degrassi" from 2001 to 2009 as Jimmy Brooks, a former basketball star who was eventually resorted to using a wheel chair after a gunshot to the spin left his paralyzed from the waist down.
"No one ever asks me to do movies," he told the magazine. "Although music is my focal point now, I'd love to do a film. That was the life that I lived before, and it would be interesting to live it again."
In the meantime, the 28-year-old star is keeping busy with his music career. He's already released two mixed tapes this year, including one last month with rapper Future titled "What a Time to Be Alive."
Drake told fans at his Austin City Limits performance last Saturday that he'll spend the rest of 2015 working on his highly anticipated fourth studio album "Views from the 6," which he plans to release early next year and hopes is his best work yet.
"I'm always thinking, 'How do I top what I've done? How do I make this thing stronger?'" Drake told W. "I want to give many, many people many, many moments before I'm gone. That's truly the art of what I do. It's the only goal."
We remember wheelchair Jimmy …….
