Drake’s second studio album,"Take Care" released in 2011 The portrait of the Toronto native deep in contemplation at a table at Joso’s, drenched in OVO’s signature black and gold color scheme thanks to a vintage watch dealer Eric Wind, you have a chance to own a piece of history. And it will only cost you $500,000. The historic item up for grabs is an ultra rare Rolex GMT-Master II reference 116758SANR that can be seen on Drake’s wrist on the cover of Take Care. Drizzy also wore the watch in the video for “Marvin’s Room” and various other photoshoot during this era. Wind came into possession of the watch when its original owner, a former colleague of Drake’s, put it up for consignment. The one-of-one timepiece is one of the rarest watches that Wind has ever sold. “I love watches with great provenance and stories,” Wind tells Complex. “I think Take Care is one of the most important albums from the last 20 years. Drake is an icon. When I first learned about the watch some years back, I was kind of fixated and hopeful that I would have a chance to get it.” The watch is being sold by Wind Vintage. Founded in 2017 by Eric Wind, the company specializes in rare vintage timepieces, from Rolexes to Audemars Piguets. All of the diamonds on this particular Rolex, it is not customized. It's a very rare reference made by Rolex with a factor diamond bezel and diamonds in the lugs. The black dial is surrounded by a bezel that features 36 baguette diamonds and 12 black sapphires, which serve as hour indicators. Diamonds also decorate the lugs and crown guards The particular production numbers of this GMT-Master II are unknown (Rolex does not share production numbers), but Wind believes that there are only a couple hundred of them in the world. The watch debuted in 2006 and is believed to have been discontinued in 2012. The Take Care version is a true one of one, thanks to the OVO owl logo that has been engraved into the caseback. While the exact retail price is hard to pin down, a GMT-Master II reference 116758SANR has been quoted with a price range between $82,900 and $154,900. Wind is selling this particular watch for $500,000. Whoever purchases it will also get some paraphernalia from the Take Care era including the gold owl statue also featured on the album cover, two OVO varsity jackets, and various merch from the Club Paradise tour. “It was a lot of back and forth [to price this watch],” says Wind. “I think this watch without the provenance could somewhere around $100,000. The provenance, to me, probably added three to five x to the value. So that's kind of how we settled on $500,000.
