It pays to be friends with “The Boy.”
To celebrate his 32nd birthday on Wednesday, Drake threw a truly over-the-top 2000s-themed party for himself, encouraging his guests to dress up in their early-aughts best.
The rapper wore at least two outfits over the course of the night, changing from a Fabolous-inspired look consisting of a blue Los Angeles jersey and hat with a coordinating bandana and Jesus chains into a navy Sean John tracksuit and sweatband later in the evening.
Shay Mitchell arrived in a costume that paid homage to Jennifer Lopez at the 2000 VMAs, while Kendall Jenner was decked out in an outfit Kim Kardashian might’ve worn back in her days as Paris Hilton’s assistant: long extensions, a pink sequined Von Dutch hat, giant rimless sunglasses, a vintage Dior graffiti top, Hudson bootcut jeans, a sequined Chanel flap bag and Adidas Superstar sneakers.
The “Hotline Bling” singer had plenty of activities for guests to enjoy, including a room full of “Pimp My Ride” luxury vehicles, a wall of Blockbuster videos, a fully stocked 7-Eleven complete with lotto tickets and a “Sandra’s Rose” room filled with roses, candles, and framed pictures of Drake with his mother.
There were also plenty of party favors to commemorate the occasion. The three-time Grammy winner offered his guests a slice from his Motorola Timeport pager-shaped cake, T-shirts airbrushed with his “Degrassi”-era headshot and, best of all, Chanel handbags.
But the man of the hour wasn’t the only one giving things away: Canadian rapper Preme presented Drake with a very blinged-out “The Boy” diamond necklace as a birthday gift.
Can someone tell me why Meek Mill is taking pictures with a OVO chain?
