DMX Lawyer Calls Robbery Claims "Completely Absurd"

DMX's attorney is blasting "completely absurd" claims that the rapper robbed a young man at gunpoint in the early morning hours on Sunday.

The hip hop artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, performed in Newark on Saturday night. Shortly after the show ended, a 21-year-old man, who did not want to be identified, claimed DMX's bodyguard pulled a gun on him at an Exxon gas station on McCarter Highway around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning as the rapper demanded he hand over his money, reports ABC News 7.

"DMX took the money, but the bodyguard was the one who glanced us (sic) at the handle of his gun," the alleged victim said about the "Get at Me Dog" rapper stealing the $3,200 cash he had on him from recently cashing his paycheck.

"Anyone who believes it makes no sense at all," attorney Murray Richman told E! News Monday.

"He was leaving a show, a very successful show, and he stopped for gas," Richman continued. "Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered (DMX) drugs. He said no and told them to go … They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense."

Newark police are still investigating the alleged crime and received a copy of the surveillance tape from the gas station. The alleged victim said the cameras caught the whole thing and that he followed the four Escalades that made up DMX's entourage in order to get the license plate number, which he later provided to police.

"The allegations are unequivocally and utterly false," Richman insisted to ABC, adding that "any videotape would be dispositive."

As the investigation continues, Newark police confirmed no charges have been filed but provide no other information.

This isn't the first time DMX, who has struggled with substance abuse over the years, has had run-ins with the law. He's previously copped pleas for crimes like animal cruelty, drug possession, theft and aggravated assault.

"Jersey!!!!! Thank You!! For real Thank You!!!!!" DMX tweeted Saturday after the show.
