IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

A Harlem-born rap legend has a healthy holiday gift aimed at computer savvy city kids.

Swap out Facebook, Art of War, and other popular websites and video games for an easy way to burn off some fat.

“There are other things in life besides video games,” said Darryl (DMC) McDaniels, 47, Thursday teaching teens easy exercises to shed pounds at Blink Fitness in Noho. “The calories add up because you are not moving around.”

McDaniels -whose group Run-DMC teamed up with Areosmith and shot to stardom with the hit single “Walk This Way - walked kids through an hour sweat at the E. 4th St. gym doing moves that they could replicate in the local playground, the gym or at school.

“Go to the park. Use the monkey bars. Run around. Use the playground to get a workout,” McDaniels said showing off squats, push ups and shoulder raises.

Born at Harlem Hospital, McDaniels was adopted and raised in Hollis. 80s.

The retired performer is now a full-time advocate for adoption, co-founding Camp Felix, a sleepaway summer camp for about 200 city foster kids.

Blink vice president Dos Condon asked McDaniels to team up with the $20-a- month gym chain after learning about the program and is now trying to raise at least $5,000 from members to send 10 kids to the camp in Peekskill.

“Quality fitness is lacking in the communities we are going into,” said Condon, who is building Blinks on Frederick Douglass Blvd and W. 125th St.; in Flatbush, Brooklyn, and the in Parkchester section of the Bronx.

Camp Felix campers Trionne Kiser, 15, and Daquane Tucker, 15, served as McDaniels’ assistant trainers promising to take the techniques back to their friends in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

“Most of my friends are fat,” said Kiser. “They don’t work out. Kids are lazy. They don’t do exercise. They’d rather sit around and play video games.”

Tucker vowed to take McDaniels lessons back to the weight room at The School for Classic, where he is a 10th grader.

“Kids just want to look good. They don’t like to sweat. They are just too lazy,” said Tucker, adding his favorite Run DMC work out tip: “Don’t lift more than you can handle.”
