DIAMOND DISTRICT JEWELRY STORE GOT ROBBED OF $66,000 BY 2 MEN DRESSED IN BLACK!

A pair of armed robbers dressed in black burst into a Diamond District store yesterday afternoon, tied up the owner and his son and swiped $66,000 in loot, cops said.
The robbers, who wore black clothing, black hats and dark sunglasses, fled the W. 47th St. jeweler, Namat Inc., shortly before 2 p.m. with a haul estimated at $29,000 in cash and $37,000 in jewels, cops said.

The owner and his son, who were bound with phone cords and cable wire, managed to free themselves before calling 911 at about 1:56 p.m., police said.

The robbers, described as Latino and in their late 20s or early 30s, were buzzed into the store, police said.

One was stout. The other, who was carrying a gun, was skinny. They also carried a gym bag.

Once inside the store, the skinny gunman pointed the piece at the owner's head and demanded he open the store's safe.

The owner complied, and neither he nor his son were injured.

Police were canvassing the area surrounding the jewelery store - which is between Fifth and Sixth Avenues - trying to track down anyone who may have seen the robbers making their getaway.

Detectives were also looking to see if security cameras in the store and nearby captured footage of the crooks, police said.
