Desiigner Wins Top Rap Song For “Panda” At 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Desiigner’s smash hit, “Panda” has earned the Brooklyn rapper another accolade. The G.O.O.D. Music artist will nab the awards for Top Rap Song and Top Streaming Song (Video) at tonight’s 2017 Billboard Music Awards.

The news was announced on the BBMA’s Twitter account. The Brooklyn rapper seemingly came out of nowhere last year with the hit single that has reach platinum status four times over. Between dealing with comparisons to Future, he parlayed the buzz of the song into a deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music. His debut album, Life of Desiigner, is due out later this year.

The “Timmy Turner” rapper isn’t the only MC pulling in multiple awards. Drake is set to have a gargantuan night, with BBMA already announcing 10 out of 22 possible wins for the 6 God. He will also be performing a must-see set from the famed Bellagio Fountain outside the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. “I think it’s gonna be a very, very big moment in the show,” Mark Bracco, executive vice president of programming and development recently told Billboard about Aubrey’s agenda. “It’s not a surprise necessarily but it’s gonna be a moment that people aren’t exactly expecting…. It’ll be memorable, I promise you that.”

Also on tap to grace the stage are Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and others.

The show airs live tonight (May 21) at 8 p.m. EST.
