DEAD WRONG! CREMATORY OWNER BUSTED STACKING BODIES IN VANS & CARS FOR DAYS IN THE SUN!

The owner of a crematory in Arizona had his license revoked after he admitted to stacking boxes of dead bodies in cars and vans because he didn't have any room in his refrigerators.

Frank Lambert, owner of All State Crematory in Mesa, Ariz., was caught cramming corpses wherever he could after a repairman fixing one of his vans reported a ghastly stench to police.

During an investigation by state funeral officials, Lambert said 49 of 74 bodies in his care sat in the baking heat for as long as three days earlier this month.

"We were completely appalled," State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers chief Rudy Thomas told the Arizona Republic. "I was surprised and embarrassed for the industry because this is not the norm."

State law says that if a crematory can't cremate human remains immediately, they need to store them in a secure refrigerator at 38 degrees.

A local television crew went undercover and caught Lambert leaving bodies in his van overnight and, in one case, taking another van full of corpses home with him after quitting time.

Witnesses told the crew that they had seen maggots swarming the crematory floor.

When the crew confronted him, Lambert said he was "doing the best" he could because he didn't have room in his cooler.

At a funeral directors board meeting on Tuesday, Lambert said he was averaging about 15 cremations a day before the bodies started piling up because he didn't have any help.

"When family members entrusted their loved ones to you, they expected them to be treated with dignity and care," Board President Katherine Shindel said. "They could not have imagined that you would let their loved ones rot like spoiled meat in the heat.

The board slapped Lambert with 19 violations and revoked the crematory license, as well as Lambert's license to perform cremations. It also ordered him to pay a $3,000 fine.

Lambert has 30 days to respond and take the case to a formal hearing.
