A student at Oprah's South African school is being questioned after the body of a newborn baby was found in the 17-year-old's bag.
The infant boy was discovered in the Leadership Academy for Girls student's bag on Wednesday at a hospital where she was being treated for excessive bleeding, ABC News reported.
Police suspect the unidentified girl gave birth at Winfrey's school and a case of concealment of death is being investigated.
According to CNN, police have not yet determined if the infant died of natural causes or if he was killed, but an autopsy is under way.
No charges have been filed.
Police Capt. Shado Mashobane confirmed to local publications that the girl is still recovering in the hospital.
A spokesperson for Winfrey’s school told ABC it would not comment on the incident because of the involvement of a minor.
The Academy, located in the small town of Henley-on-Klip, is no stranger to controversy since it opened four years ago. A school Matron, Virginia Tiny Makopo, was charged with sexually molesting several students soon after the school opened in January 2007.
At the time, the Queen of Daytime flew to South Africa to apologize to students and parents and to fire the school's headmistress, Lerato Nomvuyo Mzamane.
Makopo was later acquitted.
In March 2009, four students were expelled and three suspended after allegedly engaging in "sexual misconduct" towards other pupils.
Winfrey opened the $40 million school to provide education to South African girls who were unable to afford it.
