Contrary to reports, Daz Dillinger is not holding up the release of the upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez on Me.
TMZ is reporting that the Dogg Pound rapper and producer is embroiled in a legal battle with publishing giant BMG over the use of “Ambitionz Az a Ridah,” which is featured in the movie.
Daz claims he owns the rights to the song and won’t sign off on it for the movie. BMG disagrees and now there’s a rumored standoff between the two parties. Apparently, the film was originally scheduled to be released in September but because of this alleged legal clash it was pushed back to November.
On Saturday (July 16), Daz went on his Instagram page and posted a video debunking TMZ’s story and insisting that everything is a go and there’s nothing stopping the release of what he say is “The Greatest Movie of All Time.”
“AINT NUTHIN DERAILING NOR STOP’N MY HOMEYZ @lthutton & @bennyboom FROM DROP’N THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME TUPAC ALL EYEZ ON ME BIOPIC B’SIDES #DPG4LIFEMOVIE,” he wrote in the caption.
So at least this is good news.
As of now, the Benny Boom-directed 2Pac biopic, All Eyez on Me, is slated to arrive in movie theaters on Nov. 11.
