Next year is going to be no joke for comedian Dave Chappelle.
The comic is bringing a trio of stand-up comedy specials to Netflix in 2017, marking his first such releases in a dozen years.
"Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential," Lisa Nishimura, Netflix's VP of original documentary and comedy, said in a statement. "Dave's three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy."
The three specials — which will be released on the same unannounced date on the streaming service — will include previously unreleased performances produced at the Austin City Limits studio and the Hollywood Palladium.
Chappelle, 43, will work with director Stan Lathan to develop the third special.
The announcement, which Netflix made Monday, comes a little over a week after Chappelle hosted "Saturday Night Live" in what was the highest-rated episode in three years.
In addition to his illustrious stand-up career, the funnyman earned a tremendous following for his hit sketch-comedy series "Chappelle's Show," which aired from 2003 to 2006 on Comedy Central.
He becomes the latest big-name comic to ink a deal with Netflix, as Chris Rock also signed on for a pair of specials with the streaming service earlier this month.
