Damon Dash Ordered To Appear In Court Or Face Jail Time

Damon Dash has been ordered to appear in court or face the risk of arrest the 54-year-old previously failed to submit ownership documents tied to a $4 million judgment. U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger issued the summons after Dash and his Poppington LLC did not show up for a court date earlier this month. The new deadline for the New York native to submit documents proving their ownership in several businesses and additional copyrights is July 31. According to the report, the documentation is necessary for the U.S. Marshal to sell the assets at public auction to satisfy the aforementioned judgment. Judge Lehrburger noted a “pattern of non-compliance and delay,” and ordered Dash to appear in person to provide an explanation. Earlier this year, the judge warned that the Hip-Hop mogul could face serious legal consequences as he continued to defy court orders. His attorneys recently filed a motion to withdraw, explaining their inability to persuade him to comply with the court’s orders. Dash has allegedly refused to turn over records of his assets. He reportedly informed his legal team that doing so would be “futile” and insisted that they “wait for the bankruptcy process” to resolve the issue.
