Damn! Michael Jackson Didn't Sleep For 2 Months Before He Died?

Michael Jackson could barely moonwalk before he died because he hadn’t had any real sleep for 60 days.

That was the claim of a Harvard sleep researcher Friday who said Jackson’s inability to remember song lyrics or learn new dance moves were clear evidence he wasn’t getting any shut-eye as he prepared for the “This Is It” tour.

“The symptoms that Mr. Jackson was exhibiting were consistent with what someone might expect to see of someone suffering from total sleep deprivation over a chronic period,” Dr. Charles Czeisler testified at the wrongful-death trial of concert promoter AEG LIve.

There were also reports from choreographers and other people working on the ill-fated comeback tour that Jackson was exhibiting signs of paranoia and shedding pounds from his already stick-thin frame, Czeisler said.

That, the researcher said, was most likely because Jackson was getting propofol injections which put the showman in a drug-induced coma — but did not satisfy his body’s need for actual sleep.

If Jackson had not died on June 25, 2009 from a propofol overdose, Czeisler said, the lack of what doctors call rapid eye movement (REM) sleep would have killed him a few days later.

Lab rats die after five weeks of getting no REM sleep, Czeisler said. Murray gave Jackson nightly propofol infusions for two months.

Czeisler, who has also been a sleep consultant to everybody from The Rolling Stones and former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal to the CIA, is being paid $950 an hour for his expert testimony by Jackson’s mother Katherine.

She claims AEG Live is responsible for Jacko’s death because it failed to properly investigate Conrad Murray, the doctor convicted of giving Jackson the fatal dose of propofol.

AEG denies it hired Murray or had any idea the former cardiologist was giving Jackson propofol as a sleep aid.

Under cross-examination, Czeisler said he came to his conclusion after reading summaries of testimony and emails from people who were helping Jackson prepare for the tour.

Among other things, they described Jackson missing rehearsals and needing a teleprompter so he could see the lyrics to his own songs.

“The meticulous detailing of his deterioration here was both profound and sad,” said Czeisler.

But Czeisler also admitted he hadn’t reviewed actual testimony from the case. Nor had he seen statements from AEG honchos who said Jackson looked good and was running top-notch rehearsals.
