A hotheaded Queens man flew into a rage and fatally stabbed his friend over an apparent misunderstanding about his girlfriend, police and a witness said.
Luis Zeledon, 25, plunged a knife into Andy Herrera's heart Tuesday night in his Richmond Hill apartment because he believed his buddy was secretly talking about his girlfriend, Guadalupe Rodriguez, friends said.
"Why are you using Lupe's name?" an enraged Zeledon demanded of Herrera, according to Marlon Montalvan, who lives with the couple.
Zeledon slashed Montalvan with a piece of glass - then grabbed two kitchen knives and charged Herrera.
"He was very fast," Montalvan said. "He was not listening."
Armed with just a chair, Herrera could not stop Zeledon from driving one of the knives into his chest in the 11:30 p.m. argument, Montalvan said.
Herrera, 27, a father of two young children, was taken to Jamaica Hospital but was already dead, police said.
"He was a very good son and a very good father," said Herrera's mother, Lucia Benavides, before breaking down in tears.
Zeledon, 25, was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
