D.L. Hughley frightened patrons and employees of a Nashville comedy club when the collapsed in the middle of his set.
Hughley, 57, was mid-joke at Zanies Nashville Comedy Club when he paused unexpectedly. He then began to lean forward on his stool and was immediately helped by staffers. Unfortunately, his body continued to give out and he soon collapsed to the floor. An announcer then instructed the audience to, “Stay calm,” adding, “we’ve got it all under control.”
Footage of the incident was posted on Twitter by an audience member.
Fortunately, Youtube journalist DJ Vlad has confirmed that the “King of Comedy” is doing much better, tweeting, “DL Hughley is ok. I just spoke to him.”
The Grio reports that the former CNN host was performing on the second night of a four-day residency at Zanies. Due to popular demand, the comedy club added a second Sunday show to the schedule. Following the nationwide shutdown of bars due to the spread of COVID-19, the club reopened on May 15 with reduced tickets and socially distant seating.
