The nanny who took the "sexy photograph" of Cindy Crawford's underage daughter that fell into the hands of a suspected blackmailer could be in hot water, too.
The revelation came as German cops searched the city of Stuttgart on Friday for Edis Kayalar, the creepy male model who authorities say used the photo in a bid to extort $100,000 from Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber.
"I wouldn't rule it out," an FBI official said when asked if the nanny faced charges in connection with the scheme.
The FBI declined to identify the woman, who was fired by Crawford a week before Kayalar contacted the couple and said he had a provocative photo of now 8-year-old Kaia.
Meanwhile, various outlets reported that Kayalar's former actress girlfriend, Marissa Rukgaber, had a restraining order against the suspected blackmailer and claimed he beat her.
"He asked me to sleep with him at a friend's house, and when I refused he slapped me across my face and punched me 6-7 time (sic) all over body," according to documents obtained by TMZ.com.
Rukgaber, a fetching brunette from San Diego, said Kayalar threatened to kill her if she went to the cops.
When she didn't show up in court, Kayalar went free. Kayalar, who arrived in the U.S. about two years ago on a 90-day tourist visa and overstayed, was deported on Oct. 14, sources said.
This was after Crawford and Gerber blew the whistle on the blackmailing bid.
"Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter," the power couple's spokeswoman said in a statement.
Kayalar, 26, contacted Crawford and Gerber in July, claiming he had snapshot of their daughter, then 7, "in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged," authorities revealed.
The picture was stolen from the nanny, who had been dating Kayalar. The nanny claimed she innocently took the photo as part of a "cops and robbers" game, according to court records.
Kayalar initially told the couple he was broke and wanted a reward for returning the photo, portraying himself as a "good guy," an FBI affidavit says.
Gerber brought along a sheriff’s deputy when he met with Kayalar at a Venice Beach bar, and the blackmailer brought them back to the nanny’s home but she was gone.
The next day, however, Kayalar met Gerber alone in Malibu and turned over the photo.
Gerber gave him $1,000 for his "trouble," according to the affidavit.
Kayalar got greedy and contacted the couple two days later, claiming he still had a copy of the photo and threatening to sell it to a tabloid for $500,000, the affidavit said. Crawford and Gerber then told the cops, who picked up Kayalar.
He was turned over to immigration officials, who booted him out of the country, authorities said.
The couple thought their nightmare was over until Nov. 1, when Kayalar e-mailed them from Germany with new threats of selling the photo to a tabloid if they did not pay him $100,000, authorities said.
Kayalar blamed them for his immigration problems and reportedly told Gerber that he knew he had committed a "f----d up crime" but deserved the money.
He allegedly gave Gerber a German bank account number and routing information, saying the money should be wired within three days or the photo would be made public, officials said. Gerber sent an e-mail to Kayalar on Tuesday at the direction of the FBI, indicating payment would be made later this week.
