Cincinnati Mom Beheads 3-Month-Old Baby Daughter

A callous Cincinnati caretaker beheaded her 3-month-old baby daughter in a gruesome murder scene discovered Monday morning, according to cops and local reports.

Deasia Watkins, 20, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated murder after little Janiyah was found dead, her head severed, inside the family’s College Hill home, sources told WCPO-TV.

Cops found the grisly scene after a 6 a.m. 911 call from the Cincinnati home. The dead baby girl suffered from “multiple traumas,” Hamilton County coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco told the news station.

"It's days like this when you really wonder how much evil there is in the world and how we're fighting it,” Sammarco told the ABC affiliate. “We're trying to do right by this child. We're trying to bring justice for this baby."

Watkins is not listed on the Hamilton County, Ohio, jail roster, and she was taken for a mental health evaluation Monday evening, according to WKRC-TV. The mom was reportedly mentally ill and had previously lost custody of the baby earlier in her young life.

"Something's wrong. She got to be sick in the mind or something,” neighbor Jimmie Graham told the CBS affiliate. “I don't see how anybody can do that to a little baby.”

It’s unclear when the allegedly murderous mom will appear in court.

The disturbing crime comes just days after a Chicago grandmother was arrested for killing her 7-month-old granddaughter and then cutting the child's throat with a power saw.
