Chris Brown still loves ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran but now accepts they need time apart, the new dad said Tuesday.
Brown, 26, appeared on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM morning radio show to announce a new late-summer tour and talk about his recent run-in with Tran at a Hollywood nightclub that did not end well.
"Do you think that she is in your future? Do you think that she will be back with you someday?" Seacrest asked the Grammy winner.
"I want to be honest with you man about it," Brown said. "I can't promise anything. I can't you know, jump over the moon. But I think it takes time to heal all wounds, and you know, I take full responsibilities for, you know, my actions, and you know things that I've done in the past. So I just feel like, you know, it's just a time thing."
Asked if he still loves the gorgeous 27-year-old model he's been dating on-and-off for years, he didn't skip a beat.
"Yeah, of course," he said. "I'm not a hateful person, you know. Of course I still love (her). But I'm just, mentally right now, I'm just, I think everything takes time, you know. I think I just need to focus on being the best father I can be," he said.
Tran last ended things with Brown when news broke in March that he secretly sired a daughter with model Nia Guzman.
"Listen. One can only take so much. The best of luck to Chris and his family. No baby drama for me," Tran wrote on Instagram after the baby bombshell dropped.
Brown confirmed the paternity report with a social media pic showing him and his baby girl Royalty wearing matching red sweatshirts and the caption, "God has blessed me with my twin."
He took Royalty to the Billboard Music Awards on May 17 and carried the adorable 11-month-old in his arms down the red carpet.
He told Seacrest Tuesday that fatherhood has been good for him.
"For me, there comes a time where people have to grow up and start becoming more of an adult and taking responsibility, and I think this was just a blessing in disguise with my daughter," he said.
"I get a chance to like look at her and you know, teach her stuff, the right path, and also be a father in my daughter's life," he said. "Just to see the smile on her face, just to see the littlest things, it's emotional for me. So I just love that aspect of being able to be a father now."
Tickets for Brown's new two-month tour go on sale Friday through LiveNation.com.
The "One Hell Of A Nite" tour will stop at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J. on August 26 and the Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre on August 30.
Seacrest joked Tuesday that Brown might want to remain single while on tour because "it's fun."
"Yeah," Brown laughed as he invited Seacrest to join him. "I'll show you what rockstar life is like."
According to TMZ.com, Brown followed Tran out of the Playhouse nightclub in Hollywood last week and later caused a disturbance at her house because mutual friends tricked him into thinking Tran wanted to reconcile.
The "Run It" singer ended probation in his Rihanna felony assault case in March.
