Chris Brown’s next track off his upcoming album “X” will feature the late Aaliyah.
“They Don’t Know” will include unreleased vocals from the R&B songstress who died in a plane crash in August 2001.
Brown announced the duet during the BET nominations press conference Tuesday. His song follows foe Drake’s produced Aaliyah track, which the rapper appears on.
The 24-year-old “Look at Me Now” singer spent the weekend in Compton, Calif. to shoot the music video on a rooftop.
“I shot it in the hood. I went to 60th Street and Cedar Block. I’m bringing both worlds together and trying to uplift the poverty side of the community and show them where I’m from,” Brown explained. “I’m from Virginia, but everybody comes from a broken home or being broke - I remember when I was.”
The album, which includes production by Timbaland and Pharrell, drops July 16th and features other guests like Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar.
“Making ‘X,’ I found out who I am,” he told Rolling Stone in March. “This album has a lot of substance, from the subject matter and the situations to how it deals with love. It’s really derived from personal experiences. Then again, I always like mixing reality with art.”
Brown’s reality includes a recent split with on-again-off-again girlfriend Rihanna who he said he’d “always love” but “can’t be focused on wife-ing someone that young.”
