Chief Keef-Affiliated Rapper Tray Savage Fatally Shot In Chicago

Tray Savage, a Chicago rapper who was part of Chief Keef’s Glo Gang, was shot to death Friday morning on the city’s South Side.

The 26-year-old rapper, née Kentray Young, had just dropped his girlfriend off on South Evans Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood (where he lived) at around 11 a.m. when he was shot twice, in the neck and shoulder, police told the Chicago Sun-Times. (Chicago PD corroborated the details of the shooting to Page Six but did not identify the victim.)

Though he continued driving, Savage lost control of the vehicle and struck three cars; he was subsequently taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

His death is being treated as a homicide and police have made no arrests, though there were reports of a white SUV — possibly a Mazda — leaving the area, they said.

Savage appeared on one of Keef’s 2013 mixtape cuts, “Chiefin Keef,” which has just under 4 million views on YouTube. One of Savage’s own 2013 cuts, “Faces,” has nearly 500K views, while a 2014 song, “Got the Mac,” has notched over 426K plays, with a host of his own solo songs and featured appearances regularly also pulling hundreds of thousands of views.

Chief Keef was recently embroiled in a feud with Brooklyn’s most famous snitch — and sometimes rapper — Tekashi 6ix9ine. Keef was visiting New York in June 2018 when he was shot at; Tekashi eventually plead guilty to ordering the shooting in February 2019.
