A lower East Side man was viciously slashed in the face by a stranger in a Rikers Island visitor area — and then was victimized again when a correction officer put a photo of the gory gash on Facebook, a new lawsuit charges.
Chad Seegars, 20, was allegedly grabbed from behind near the metal detectors at the George R. Vierno Center, where the slasher left an eight-inch right cheek cut requiring 90 stitches on Feb. 10, 2012, according to the suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court Monday.
A copy of the photo shows a slanted pink slice through his skin, stretching from the corner of Seegars's eye to below his ear.
He is suing the city, the Department of Correction and the unnamed correction officer for an unspecified amount claiming the dissemination of the photo was humiliating and distressing.
Neither the Department of Correction nor the city Law Department would comment.
But Seegers mother, Shalanda Seegers, said her son's injuries were shocking.
"I was devastated. My son's face was split open like a pear," she said.
