Bruno Mars has sold out arenas on his “Moonshine Jungle World Tour,” and now he’s gearing up to play for his largest audience yet. The R&B crooner will reportedly headline next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Mars is expected to perform at Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on February 2, 2014.
An official announcement could come as early as Sunday. An NFL spokesman would not confirm the report, but did joke that Janet Jackson and Miley Cyrus have been ruled out as performers.
Past Super Bowl headliners have included Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, and Beyoncé, who performed at last year’s halftime show in New Orleans.
Mars, whose sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox has been certified platinum, wrapped the U.S. leg of his tour earlier this month and will head to Europe on Oct. 2.
