A teenager plummeted to his death after he lost his footing on the roof of a Bronx building early Saturday, cops said.
The body of Kevin Mejia, 19, was discovered by a super in the rear of an apartment building on University Ave. in Kingsbridge Heights at about 7:15 a.m., after an apparent fall from the top of the six-story structure, police said.
Mejia, who was found lying faceup on a concrete stairwell, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Mejia lost his balance on the roof's ledge and tried to save himself by grabbing a length of wires, sources said.
But the bundle of cables ripped away from the building and Mejia dropped to the staircase below, the sources said.
It was not immediately clear what Mejia - who lived just a few blocks away - was doing on top of the building before the fall, but police were treating the case as an accident, sources said.
Mejia's grieving family declined to comment from the teen's home, where he lived with his mother.
