Britney Spears confirmed her “X Factor” departure Friday as a new report said she may be headed to Sin City.
"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season,” Spears said in a statement obtained by the Daily News.
“I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it's time for me to get back in the studio," she said. “Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”
Unidentified sources told TMZ.com that the “Toxic” singer is in “serious talks” to headline a recurring Las Vegas show along the lines of Celine Dion’s successful multi-year run at Caesars Palace.
Negotiations for the "big, nightly show” are ongoing with one of the Caesars Group properties, TMZ reported.
Spears, 31, is now recording her eighth studio album and remains under a court-monitored conservatorship managed by her dad as well as her fiancé, Jason Trawick.
Her decision to quit “X Factor” came amid reports that the show’s producers, including fellow judge Simon Cowell, were considering firing the pop star for a lackluster performance.
“Obviously it saves her the humiliation of being fired,” a show insider reportedly told TMZ.
“Everyone knows Simon was not happy with her bland performance,” the insider said. “He wanted crazy Britney, she gave him Britney on sleeping pills.”
