Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards wasn't in court Monday, but he'll need to show up July 22 for trial on drunk-driving charges.
The free agent, who faces up to a year behind bars if convicted, allegedly had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit as he left a party last September.
Edwards allegedly reeked of liquor when he was arrested shortly before sunrise Sept. 21 while driving a 2007 Range Rover with two teammates as passengers.
The fleet-footed footballer's lawyer, Peter Frankel, said he will challenge the Breathalyzer results and other evidence.
Frankel said he will challenge claims by cops they had probable cause to arrest his client - and he will try to get statements his client made to cops tossed.
"I had a couple of drinks," Edwards allegedly told the arresting officer.
"We were just coming home from a party. What about if I just leave the car and take a cab and go home?"
The cop said no and slapped the cuffs on the athlete.
Frankel said he plans to call several witnesses to help Edwards refute the charges.
Edwards was flagged at the corner of W. 34th St. and 12th Ave. because of his tinted windows, which are illegal if cops can't see through them.
Just before being traded to the Jets in 2009, Edwards was arrested for punching out a club promoter in Cleveland. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor and got probation.
Edwards had 53 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
