Boosie Badazz Hires Lobbyists To Seek Pardon From President Donald Trump

Boosie Badazz is facing a likely 24-month federal prison sentence stemming from a gun case, but now he's taking a huge step to attempt to avoid it: hiring lobbyists to appeal to President Donald Trump for a pardon. The website LegiStorm first discovered that the Louisiana rapper hired the firm J.M. Burkman & Associates to appeal to Trump on his behalf. Public records, available here, reveal that the named lobbyists are Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl. Burkman and Wohl say that they have the explicit goal of "seeking a presidential pardon" for Boosie, who they describe as a "rapper and world class musician." The two men, named in the media as "far-right operatives," were convicted in an Ohio court of sending robocalls to 85,000 voters in predominantly Black areas across multiple states in the summer of 2020, telling voters false information in the hopes of discouraging them from voting by mail. They were sentenced two years later to two years of probation and 500 hours of registering voters. Those calls are still causing them problems, as they pleaded no contest this past summer to similar charges in Michigan of "orchestrating a series of robocalls aimed at suppressing the vote of predominantly black voters in Detroit in the 2020 general election. The pair is scheduled to be sentenced in that case on Dec. 1. Boosie has raised the possibility of receiving help from Trump before. Back in January, he shared a message on X to the then-newly-inaugurated president. "Trump CHECK MY CASE OUT MY CASE WAS DISMISSED BUT BIDENS DOJ RECHARGED ME WITH THE SAME GUN CHARGE BIDEN PARDON HIS SON OF. I WAS TOLD I AM THE ONLY PERSON IN THE COUNTRY FACING THAT CHARGE NOW," Boosie wrote at the time. "PRESIDENT TRUMP, I ALREADY WAS GIVEN A 10 YEAR SENTENCE N STATE N 2009 FOR 3 rd offense MARIJUANA ( grams ,grams,grams ) I NEVER WAS EVEN OFFERED REHAB STRAIGHT TO PRISON." He added, "N TRUMP IM BOOSIE IM A RAPPER/FILMMAKER FROM BATON ROUGE. I WAS TARGETED.. MY MOUTH N THINGS I STAND ON GET ME N ALOT SHIT BUT IM REAL! My lawyer MEGHAN BLANCO can explain this case. She knew the charges n against you were bad she even spoke about it on radio."
