Bobby Shmurda Says Gun He Was Arrested With Was A Prop

Art above everything.

Brooklyn rapper and accused gang leader Bobby Shmurda told cops a weapon he was caught red-handed with in 2014 was to be used as a rap video prop, a detective testified at a pre-trial hearing Tuesday.

“I use my gun for rap videos - I’m a rapper,” Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, allegedly told NYPD Det. Douglas Corso on June 3, 2014 after receiving a report of suspected drug activity at 166 Rockaway Parkway in Brownsville.

After the testimony, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott ruled that the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan would not be permitted to present those remarks as evidence to the jury at Shmurda’s upcoming trial on conspiracy and related charges.

Shmurda allegedly headed the trigger-happy GS9 crew that took on other Brooklyn gangs and ran a drug operation.

GS9 is also Shmurda’s Brownsville-based rap group made famous by his “Shmoney Dance” and hit song and music video “Hot N----.”

Shmurda also allegedly made a pathetic attempt at concealing the weapon as police got to the apartment that was reeking of pot, cops said.

“He jumped onto the couch and was stuffing the firearm into the couch,” Corso testified on direct-examination by Assistant District Attorney Nigel Farinha.

Cops also recovered “a 9mm magazine with 14 rounds in it,” the witness said.

“You can’t charge me with a loaded gun - there's no bullets in the gun," Shmurda allegedly barked at the officers.

"I know the law. I beat charges before. I have an attorney for that," he allegedly added.

Clott ruled the jury would be able to hear that statement, which Shmurda’s lawyer argued should suppressed.

Shmurda, later the day of the arrest at the precinct, was goofing off and making kissy faces at two females who were in the apartment and who were also arrested, the detective said.

Shmurda’s attorney Alex Spiro suggested on cross-examination that his famous client was pushed into talking by the interrogators who failed to read him his rights when they detained him.

He also suggested they were targeting Shmurda and made up an excuse to enter the apartment so they could go after him.
