Although he's not out of the woods yet, Bobby Shmurda's making headway in his current legal situation. After being indicted on a variety of charges last year, REVOLT reports that the Brooklyn rapper, born Ackquille Pollard, has been cleared of one of his charges.
"Brooklyn D.A. office announced that the gun case in Brooklyn will be dismissed in about two weeks," Pollard's lawyer Howard Greenberg confirmed after clearing up jail brawl rumors. The case being dropped alleged that Pollard had fired a gun at a crowd of people outside a barbershop. In a separate incident, police seized two loaded firearms and narcotics paraphernalia inside a Brooklyn residence.
Although the weapons charges are being dropped, Pollard still faces charges of reckless endangerment in the second degree, conspiracy in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy in the third degree, and one count of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia (intent to sell and possession of narcotics). The charges stem from a long-term narcotics investigation run by the NYPD and a designated Brooklyn task force against East Flatbush, Brooklyn crew GS9, also known as "G Stone Crips" or "G Stone 90's". Pollard faces up to 25 years if convicted on the conspiracy charges.
Pollard was admitted into Riker's Island's West Facility on Dec. 19, two days after he was apprehended by police at Quad Studios in midtown Manhattan.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29.
"Brooklyn is done and now it's on to Manhattan, where we need to teach these adversaries a lesson," Greenberg declared.
Earlier this month, after Yung Relle posted a video of Bobby Shmurda declaring he was "back," rumors began circulating that Pollard had made bail and been released from custody. That rumor turned out to be false.
