Bobby Brown pleaded not guilty Friday to his second DUI arrest in seven months.
The New Edition singer entered the plea through his lawyer Tiffany Feder, opting to skip a personal appearance before the media and his Los Angeles County criminal judge, a courtroom source told the Daily News.
The judge accepted the plea and ordered the former husband of late pop icon Whitney Houston to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings each week pending a follow-up court hearing Dec. 13, the source said.
Brown, 43, was pulled over around 1 a.m. on Oct. 24 for an alleged traffic violation in Tarzana, Calif.
“He failed a combination of the field sobriety test and the Breathalyzer. It sounds like he was cooperative,” Sgt. Pablo Monterrosa with the Los Angeles Police Department told the Daily News shortly after his arrest.
The Los Angeles City Attorney later said Brown was driving without a court-ordered dashboard Breathalyzer and refused to take a chemical test requested by law enforcement. He was charged with driving under the influence with a prior conviction, driving on a restricted license and driving without the booze-sensing ignition interlock device.
If convicted on all counts, he could get a maximum of two years behind bars. Brown is currently serving three years probation after pleading no contest to another DUI charge earlier this year.
He was arrested in Los Angeles in March for talking on his cell phone while driving and smelled of alcohol, police said.
Man! We all know Bobby was drunk & probably something else too!
