Rapper BlocBoy JB has been arrested for felony gun possession.
The Memphis emcee, whose real name is James Baker, was arrested at a home in Shelby County, Tenn., early Friday morning, hours before he was scheduled to perform at the Beale Street Music Festival, reports Fox 13 Memphis.
The 22-year-old, who was among 20 people detained at the residence, is facing a charge of felony possession of a gun by a convicted felon and misdemeanors for speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Baker’s attorney Murray Wells told the station that police weren’t looking for his client, saying, “They weren’t looking for him, and there was no warrant for him personally. They may have been looking for other suspects on the premises.”
The rapper, who helped popularize the “shoot” dance, was arrested in Shelby County earlier this year, according to Pitchfork. He’s reportedly facing drug and weapons charges stemming from a July 2018 incident.
