BlackBerry has dialed up its rivalry with the iPhone.
Research In Motion Wednesday introduced three new versions of its Blackberry smartphone in a bid to win back market share from Apple's iPhone and handsets powered by Google's Android operating system.
The embattled tech company, which has seen its shares drop 65% since February, is launching the first touch-screen version of its Bold model, plus a revamped Torch with a slide-out keyboard and a new touch-screen-only Torch.
The new devices are RIM's first new models in a year and are part of what the Ontario-based company called the biggest global launch in its history.
The phones will be available from 225 carriers worldwide and be based on RIM's new BlackBerry 7.0 platform.
The new Bold 9900, which was unveiled at RIM's BlackBerry World conference in May, has a larger keyboard and thinner case, and comes with a near-field communications (NFC) chip that turns it into a mobile wallet.
The Torch 9810 features the slider keyboard, and the Torch 9850 is RIM's first touch-screen-only model since its much-maligned Storm.
All three come with pinch-and-zoom capability similar to an iPhone.
