They couldn't spare a square.
Telling one another you'll have to ply it from my cold, dead hands, South African shoppers flooded a Checkers store in Roodepoort, Johannesburg for some well-priced toilet paper according to EWN Reporter.
The deal-seekers took a turn for the deranged Friday morning when they impatiently swarmed a cage of the revered rolls. Seemingly trying to hand out the precious packages, an employee can be seen getting stuck in the cage, shouting at shoppers amid the frenzy.
People were even willing to get their hands dirty for some multipacks of soap, swarming the ground when they spilled onto the floor. Still, the sudsy scrap was infinitely preferable to what happened last year at the Port Elizabeth location, where crazed consumers kicked in the doors of their Checkers location to gain entry.
Black Friday is a relatively new tradition in South Africa, the sales starting in 2013. Checkers was the first retailer to officially adopt the day.
They know it's only toilet paper right ……
