Birdman, Cash Money, Young Money Sued Over Drake Profits

2017 hasn’t been a good year for Birdman. After being called out by Rick Ross and J Prince for the way he treated Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled, the head of Cash Money Records is now being sued.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the Cash Money co-founder, along with his brother Ronald “Slim” Williams, are being sued by Jas Prince, the son of J Prince, after failing to pay for a deal they had over Drake.

For those unfamiliar with Jas Prince, he was the first person to discover Drake and was responsible for introducing him to Lil Wayne, Birdman and Cash Money Records in 2008. According to Jas and J Prince, the two were never given the money they felt they deserved for discovering Drake and filed a lawsuit against Birdman in 2015. The parties later settled out of court.

Now, court documents reveal Birdman and Cash Money were supposed to pay Aspire Music Group — Drake’s managing label — one-third of the rapper’s profits. The “More Life” artist was also signed to an exclusive deal by Birdman in 2013 — an alleged breach of Drake’s original contract. Aspire Music Groups claims they’re owed $4 million. While the label is responsible for filing the lawsuit, the website reports that Jas Prince is “calling the shots, as he now owns a chunk” of the label.

As he now deals with the Drake lawsuit, Birdman may have another issue looming. Last week, J Prince — the founder of Rap-A-Lot Records — told TMZ he was taking Lil Wayne’s side in his feud with Birdman. The Louisiana rapper is allegedly owed unpaid royalties from the label.

When asked how he would “settle the beef” between Lil Wayne and Birdman, J Prince said, “I’m going to make [Birdman] an offer he can’t refuse.”
