Bill Cosby Allegedly Kicked Pregnant Lisa Bonet Off ‘A Different World’

Bill Cosby allegedly got so mad when Lisa Bonet told him she was pregnant, he kicked her off the 1990s “Cosby Show” spinoff, “A Different World.”

Bonet’s ex-husband Lenny Kravitz writes in his newly released memoir, “Let Love Rule,” that the blowup happened when Bonet told the now-disgraced comic that she was pregnant after the first season of “A Different World” in 1988.

According to Kravitz, Cosby immediately knew what was going on when Bonet and the show’s producer Debbie Allen called a meeting with him at the time.

“You’re here to tell me you’re pregnant, aren’t you?” Cosby allegedly asked Bonet.

Allen explained that she liked the idea of Bonet’s character, Denise Huxtable, daughter of Dr. Cliff Huxtable, played by Cosby, deciding to raise a child on her own with the support of her friends.

Cosby didn’t say anything, but said he’d think about it and a few days later he called back and quashed the idea, Kravitz writes.

“Lisa Bonet is pregnant,” he announced, “but Denise Huxtable is not.”

Cosby, who is a convicted sex offender, then allegedly pulled Bonet, now 52, off the series.

Cosby, however, allowed Bonet — after her daughter with Kravitz, Zoë, was born — to return to “The Cosby Show.”

“But from then on, her relationship with Bill was tense and ultimately untenable,” Kravitz writes.

Bonet eventually left “The Cosby Show” in 1991, citing creative differences at the time and was not invited back for the show’s finale.
