Big Sean And His Mom Launch Wellness Video Series For Low-Cost Coping

Rapper Big Sean and his mother, Myra Anderson, have teamed to launch a new wellness video series.

The series is being presented by Sean’s foundation, and the mother-and-son duo will release a new episode every Saturday in May for Mental Health Awareness Month. Topics will include sleep, meditation, diet, exercise, and something called “the emotional freedom technique.”

Refreshingly, the mental health techniques the pair will discuss are low-cost — or free.

Anderson said in a statement: “Sean and I wanted to share some of the no- or low-cost techniques that we have used over the years to help us attain and maintain emotional balance. In the future, we may do a deeper dive into some of these techniques and other tools that we use.”

Sean added: “I feel that Mental Health Awareness Month is the perfect time to talk with my mom about some of the things I have learned from her that have helped me along the way, and I hope will help others.”

The videos will be posted on the Sean Anderson Foundation site, as well as its IGTV channel. Each episode will include a 10- to 15-minute conversation between the pair.

Sean’s foundation has previously hosted a mental health awareness panel, as well as fundraisers to help COVID-19 response efforts. Sean and his mother also launched an educational program called Mogul Prep to help students navigate the music industry and other fields.

A Detroit native, Sean was also recently named creative director of innovation by the Pistons to “provide creative counsel and strategic guidance” to the NBA team.

His mother, meanwhile, has been featured on OWN’s series, “Behind Every Man,” and Sean has credited her — and Kanye West — for helping launch his career.

Sean, 33, listed his Malibu, Calif., mansion — complete with a recording studio and a nightclub — for nearly $12.5 million in February.

He was previously engaged to late “Glee” star Naya Rivera. The couple split in 2014, and Sean wrote in a social media message after her tragic death in California’s Lake Piru last year: “God Bless your Soul! Thank you for blessing us all with your talent and presence.”
