BIA has responded to Cardi B’s claim of passing on what later became the lat“Whole Lotta Money,” a track Cardi previously told fans that she received the record first, with the claim coming amid speculation on whether the Bianca artist would be firing off a diss track in response to “Pretty & Petty,” a BIA-mocking song off Cardi’s Am I the Drama? album. During an X Spaces session focused on several remarks BIA made in a then-recent Hot 97 interview, Cardi, albeit without directly naming the source of her frustration, argued that people “can’t even play” with her when it comes to writing. “I got the ‘Whole Lotta Money’ record,” Cardi said at the time. “That shit was sent to me first and I dubbed it. Now, in a new interview with Michael Saponara for Billboard, BIA has offered her version of events while emphasizing her own skills as a writer. She also pointed to key lyrics from the track, including the opening line from the first verse and another one from the song's pre-chorus. It’s so funny, because the reference that she’s speaking of is the part ‘it’s a whole lot of money,’ and maybe a verse,” she said when asked about Cardi’s claim. “I wrote the first verse on that song, and the hook, ‘I put on my jewelry just to go to the bodega.’ So I’m so glad you clarified that, because there would be no ‘Whole Lotta Money’ if there was no, ‘I put on my jewelry just to go to the bodega.’”BIA continued, “That’s facts, and there would be no ‘Whole Lotta Money’ if there was no ‘I can't wear what you bitches wear, because it’s cheap to me,’ which is also what I wrote. From there, BIA dove into her approach to co-writing, pointing out that “everybody uses writers,” though she herself is adamant about always putting “pen to paper” when it comes to her work. “Even if I do get a full song, I’m gonna put a spin on it,” she said, as seen in the full interview
