IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

If you needed another reason to tune into the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, here’s one: Beyoncé. The R&B sensation has been added as a performer to Sunday’s show.

MTV has officially announced that Queen B will return to the VMA stage for the first time since 2009 to perform material off her latest chart-topping album 4. She is nominated for three Moonmen this year including Best Female Video, Best Choreography, and Best Cinematography for “Run the World (Girls).”

“Beyoncé has delivered some of the most legendary and memorable performances in VMA history, we are so excited she’ll be returning to the VMA stage this year,” said Amy Doyle, Executive Producer of the 2011 VMAs. “Everyone will be talking about how she set the VMA stage on fire-yet again!”

She joins previously announced performers Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, and Young the Giant. Additionally, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Rick Ross, and Odd Future have been confirmed as presenters, while Jessie J will serve as the evening’s house artist. Tony Bennett will introduce a musical tribute to the late Amy Winehouse.

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m. EST.
