A fleet four months after giving birth to Blue Ivy Carter, the superstar mom has slimmed down to shimmying shape, readying herself for the daunting task of performing four sold-out shows this Memorial Day weekend.
Beyoncé will storm Atlantic City with performances packed with brisk-dancing, loud singing and a lot of star posing.
They’re her first concert appearances since a special run of shows at Roseland last August. (She recorded that stint for a hit DVD, “Beyoncé Live At Roseland: Elements of 4.”)
Every ticket for the shows, held Friday through Monday at the gleaming new $2.4 billion Revel Entertainment Complex on the boardwalk, has been snapped up.
The star initially booked just two concerts at the new resort’s 5,500 seat Ovation Hall; two more were added due to demand.
The Hall, conceived by the braintrusts behind Cirque du Soliel, boasts unobstructed views from every seat, plus an “immersive” state of the art sound system.
Tickets for the shows, originally listed for $95 to $495, have been going for up to $1,700 on secondary markets like StubHub.
The price has risen since Beyoncé has no other shows on her schedule. Still, it’s unlikely the superstar — who stunned crowds in a lace and mesh Givenchy gown earlier this month at the Met Gala — will be spending any time darning socks.
Music producer Ryan Tedder told MTV News that she’s been hard at work reviewing material for more than one followup to her last CD, 2011’s “4.”
“The conversations about her next album just started,” Tedder commented. “There (are) two projects happening.”
Besides her fifth album, Beyoncé has been connected to the next Clint Eastwood movie, scheduled to be the third remake of “A Star Is Born.”
Naturally, that would involve a soundtrack, accounting for the second CD.
Beyoncé is among those rumored to be cast in the upcoming movie “One Hit Wonder,” to be directed by “Glee” czar Ryan Murphy. Others include Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon, who have sang in past films.
In the meantime, the Atlantic City dates are occupying the singer entirely, involving weeks of rehearsals leading to this holiday weekend.
Like all Beyoncé’s live performances, her latest will feature multiple costume changes, elaborate sets and a full kick line of dancers, as well as plenty of video enhancement.
The set will likely lean heavily toward her “4,” CD, which remains on the charts a full 46 weeks after it first appeared.
