Beyonce's not letting haters run her world. She's speaking up about those accusations that she ripped her Billboard Music Award performance from an artist named Lorella Cuccarini. Her response, plus her tracklisting of her new album 4 inside. She's revealing track names every hour on the hour....
You've heard the rumors and internet uproar of folks accusing Beyonce, who was honored with the Millennium Award on Sunday, of stealing her Billboard Music Awards performance of "Run the World (Girls)" from an artist named Lorella Cuccarini.
But she responded today saying she is well aware of Lorella's performance. In fact, she was shown it a year ago and decided to work with the creators of Lorella's performance for her own performance. Bey told AOL Music today:
"My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much. I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius. Thank god for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring. I never worked so hard on anything in my life as that performance for the Billboard Awards."
Honestly, ALL artists are influenced by someone or something that preceded them. Ripping something 100% with no credit is totally different than being inspired and respecting the other person's art enough to go straight to the source to work hard to create your own art. IMO, Beyonce has done the latter. And will likely inspire others soon with this very performance in the same way.
