Beyonce fans weren't crazy in love about her "big announcement" on "Good Morning America."
After the 33-year-old songbird teased her devotees with a variety of promos leading up to her appearance on "GMA" Monday, some were let down when it turned out to be about her vegan lifestyle, something that's been well-documented in the past.
"I'm not naturally the thinnest woman. I have curves," she said in an exclusive "GMA" clip, her first time talking about her veganism on camera. "I have struggled since a young age with diets. Finding something that actually works and keeps the weight off has been difficult for me."
Beyonce found success after she and husband Jay Z teamed up with their friend and nutritionist Marco Borges for his 22-day vegan challenge back in 2013 to celebrate the Brooklyn born rapper's 44th birthday.
"Jay and B decided they wanted to take the 22-day vegan challenge," Borges recalled in an exclusive interview with the Daily News.
"They came to me and said 'We'd love to do your 22-day vegan challenge. It would be fun, it would be cool, it would be like a spiritual cleanse. And we'd love to share it with our friends,'" he continued. "And I thought, 'Wow! Oh my god. Mind blowing!'"
Since first embarking on the food challenge, Beyonce has embraced the plant-based diet and continued with it beyond the 22-days.
"After having my daughter, I made a conscious effort to regain control of my health and my body. But I didn't want to do a crash diet," she wrote in the forward of Borges' book "The 22-Day Revolution," which was released April 28. "I was a mom now. I needed to change my ways and set an example for my child."
Beyonce began incorporating dishes like vanilla chia pudding with 1 cup of fresh berries for breakfast or black bean and quinoa salad with quick cumin dressing for dinner. She even gets to indulge in dark chocolate, which is loaded with nutrients that can positively affect your health.
Additionally, Beyonce and Jay Z helped Borges launch a vegan deliver service, 22 Days Nutrition, in January, which offers packages like the 3 meals-a-day for 22-days plan for $609.84.
"When they shared it with their friends, everyone across the board had so many beautiful things to say," Borges told The News. "The one underlying thing that was exactly the same across the board was, 'It's amazing but it would be so much easier if you could send me the meals.'
"B, Jay and I talked about it and they were like, 'Yea this is a great idea,'" he added. "A year later we launched it. It was us filling a demand in the marketplace."
As Beyonce continues promoting the plant-based diet, she boasts about the benefits she’s experienced first-hand.
"I felt like my skin was really firm - a lot tighter than when I deprived myself of food," Bey said on “GMA.” "And the weight stayed off."
While Beyonce's big announcement is extremely important given the 78 million adults and 12 million children who are considered obese in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fans were expecting something a bit more shocking like a second pregnancy for hip hop's royal couple.
Still, the takeaways from the vegan lifestyle she's leading by example with have lasting benefits for a healthy life. And that's certainly something to celebrate.
"You're going to have weight loss, reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancer, stroke, dementia, Alzheimer's, you're reducing inflammation in the body, which is ultimately the underlying cause of all age related diseases," Borges said. "You're arming yourself with the habits you need to live a healthier lifestyle."
