Minister Louis Farrakhan is falling into formation behind Beyoncédespite her Super Bowl backlash.
While delivering a keynote speech in Chicago on Sunday, the Nation of Islam leader vowed to protect the singer if police refused to do their job during her upcoming would tour.
"She started talking all that black stuff and white folks say, 'Well, we don't know how to deal with that,” the 82-year-old said, according to TMZ.
Farrakhan also blasted former mayor Rudy Giuliani’s attack on Beyoncé’s performance and her support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive,” Giuliani said after the controversial show.
The “Single Ladies” provocative performance had dancers wearing outfits taken from the militant Black Panthers movement and a Miami police organization soon called for police unions to boycott her shows.
“Look at how you treatin' Beyoncé now. You gonna picket. You not gonna offer her police protection. But the FOI (Fruit of Islam) will,” Farrakhan said.
The leader, marred in controversy himself, also urged rapper Kendrick Lamar and other hip hop artists to open up on.
“Say what you feel. Put it out there,” he told the crowd.
