Beyoncé made one thing clear amid rumors of Jay Z’s philandering past: She’s still crazy in love.
Less than a week after dropping a provocative album film that strongly alluded to her husband of eight years’ alleged unfaithfulness, the “Lemonade” purveyor reaffirmed her adoration for the rap mogul Wednesday with a cloying onstage shoutout.
“I want to dedicate this song to my family,” she told a crowd in Miami, the first stop on her "Formation" world tour, before launching into her soaring love song “Halo.” “I want to dedicate this song to my beautiful husband. I love you so much.”
Beyoncé’s new infidelity anthem “Sorry,” an edgy track from her just-released “Lemonade” album, seemed to suggest Jay Z had messed around with a mysterious “Becky with the good hair.”
A witchhunt for “Becky” ensued, with the Beyhive swarming around fashion designer Rachel Roy and British pop star Rita Ora, both of whom had previously been linked to the Roc Nation founder. The two first stoked speculation around themselves, then adamantly denied it.
Despite being painted a cheater in his megastar wife’s much-discussed sixth studio album, however, Jay Z appeared in the accompanying hour-long HBO film — and was reportedly “fully supportive” of the work.
“This is part of the process of being transparent. And they have healed,” an insider told E! News recently. “He has been very humble about the experience. Beyoncé is the love of his life and he will do what it takes.”
The Tidal founder, spotted Tuesday in Miami calmly puffing on a cigar and on Wednesday riding a golf cart with his wife, apparently even had a hand in the “Freedom” singer’s creative process.
“He knew the lyrics; he knew the implications. He had to approve the songs before release,” the source said. “Jay is a very smart businessman ... Bottom line is that they are both really smart and they both saw dollar signs.”
Beyoncé also paid tribute Wednesday night to the late music legend Prince, turning her display screens purple for a "Purple Rain" audience singalong and thanking him for his "beautiful music."
