BET is currently working on a reboot of 106 & Park, the popular music video countdown series that once stood as a cornerstone of the network’s programming throughout the ’00s. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club morning show, BET President and CEO Scott Mills touched on the show’s enduring legacy and the network’s plans to bring back 106 & Park, albeit packaged for the online and digital age. “We understand people love 106 & Park,” Mills, who was appointed President of BET in 2017 before assuming CEO duties in 2021, said while speaking of a potential revival. “The fact that it doesn’t work as a linear television show doesn’t mean it’s over,” he added. “We can bring 106 & Park back as a podcast. We can bring back 106 & Park back as a digital experience. a revamped version of 106 & Park is expected to be unveiled sometime this year and will likely coincide with BET’s celebration of the 25-year anniversary of the show’s launch back in 2000. “We are evolving what 106 & Park will look like in 2025 because it does have that very important role,” he explained. “We’ve got a number of really exciting executions. We’re approaching the 25th anniversary of 106 & Park as well, so there’ll be some things that y’all will really be excited about. Debuting on Sept. 11, 2000, 106 & Park remained on-air until 2014 and ran for a total of 3,710 episodes
