Former “Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta” star Benzino is facing 15 years in prison in felony drug charges, according to a new report.
The reality star has been charged with felony possession of THC oil gummies, felony possession of MDMA pills and misdemeanor weed possession, reports TMZ.
According to docs obtained by the website, Benzino was arrested in January 2017 after police executing a search warrant on his Atlanta apartment found the drugs. This is the first time news of the arrest has come to light.
His lawyers previously argued that the search was illegal, but a judge ruled that it was legal. The reality star and his team will find out when the case goes to trial on Wednesday. If convicted, he reportedly faces up to 15 years in prison.
Benzino posted a video to Instagram slamming the story on Wednesday. In it, he slammed websites for ignoring positive videos he has shared on social media of his son cooking while covering the story about the drug charges.
“When you see TMZ post some bulls–t about a year-and-a-half-old case, they can’t wait to put that up,” he said in the video. “They can’t wait. All of them. Can’t wait. Can’t you see what this s–t is. They’re the number one problem in our society. And our culture. Because they hate us. They don’t want to see us win. It’s sad.”
While he did not explicitly call into question the validity of the story, he told fans not to worry about it.
“I’m not worried about that,” he said. “Don’t worry about that. That’s going to work out.”
