Latin music star Bad Bunny has tested positive for COVID-19, the singer’s rep told the Associated Press on Monday.
The 26-year-old, whose real name is Benito Martínez Ocasio, announced the news the day after dropping out of a scheduled performance at the 2020 American Music Awards, where he had been slated to sing “Dákiti,” his fall hit with Jhay Cortez. However, he did pop up on the show to virtually present an award, Favorite Latin Female Artist.
He was awarded with AMAs for Favorite Male Latin Artist and Favorite Latin Album for “YHLQMDLG” (an acronym for “Yo hago lo que me da la gana,” Spanish for “I do whatever I want”).
Bad Bunny’s publicist, Sujeylee Solá, told the AP that the singer wasn’t displaying any of the major symptoms of the coronavirus, but declined to provide further details.
